Another year has gone and the FPI is getting ready for the 64th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW64). Despite the progress in international cooperation and many ideas for the next decade, the gender pay gap is still not closing fast enough. What can companies do to fix their structures? How can state actions promote a level playing field for women and men? How is international action triggering large-scale change for fair pay? Join us at the Fair Pay Global Forum in New York on Wednesday 11 March 2020 to get the answers!

Last year, the FPI organized three Fair Pay Management Circles with SAP, Allianz and Ernst & Young and making use of an already rich database of best practice. In December 2019 the FPI brought together many of the best practices at the Fair Pay Best Practice Summit where 120 experts from business, politics, civil society and academia discussed the most efficient ways to achieve fair pay.
Also, in December 2019 Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC), of which the FPI is a member, extended its activities across the Arab World. Government, business and civil society representatives from ten countries across the Arab region met in Amman to pledge promoting pay equity between women and men. EPIC was also a partner in the adoption of the Human Rights Council Resolution on Equal Pay in July 2019, initiated by Iceland.
What does the future hold?
Leading with German President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the EC recently adopted the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2024 which focusses on ‘pay transparency/the gender pay gap’ as one of its main goals. Moreover, the United Nations will organise the Generation Equality forum this year to commemorate a number of important anniversaries, such as the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Therefore, the main focus of the CSW64 session will be on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
And it goes without saying that the FPI will contribute to this year of gender equality. After two successful Fair Pay Global Forums in 2018 and 2019, the FPI will once again gather experts from companies, NGOs, trade unions, governments, and international organisations in New York in order to exchange practical strategies on ways to achieve fair pay. This time speakers such as Lorraine Hariton, President & CEO of Catalyst, Libby Lyons, Director of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency in Australia and Karin Raguin, Vice President at LVMH will offer their perspectives and practical experience on how to achieve equal pay for all.
