1. Universal Fair Pay Check Awards – first companies awarded

On March 17, 2021, for the first time in the history of fair pay, companies were awarded the UNIVERSAL FAIR PAY CHECK. Our awardees include a wide variety of companies from Germany and Iceland, ranging from small businesses to medium-sized companies and DAX corporations. Federal Minister of Labour Hubertus Heil is the patron of the Universal Fair Pay Check in Germany.

The award took place virtually with a champagne reception in the smallest group. This allowed hundreds of people from all over the world to follow the live broadcast from the Jameos de la Cazuela in Lanzarote. The recording of this awards premiere is available on the FPI YouTube Channel.

A highlight of the media coverage of the award ceremony is the article by Claudia Obmann published in the Handelsblatt: Vergütungsanalyse: So können Firmen zum Vorreiter beim fairen Gehalt werden (in German)

To zero in three phases: the Universal Fair Pay Check

The UNIVERSAL FAIR PAY CHECK unites the best statutory initiatives in the world to form a single method: the pay analyses from Switzerland, the standardization process from Iceland, and the transparency initiative from Great Britain.

The aim of the certification process is to close all internal pay gaps in an organization in three phases and to offer equality and equal opportunities for all employees. This takes a shorter or longer period of time depending on the starting point and requires various interlocking measures as well as regular monitoring. For the analysis of their pay data, the implementation of fair pay, and the adaptation of suitable measures, organizations are given advice and support by the FPI during all three phases. Throughout this process, advances or relapses are checked every year.
