WHAT WE DO
Our goal: fair pay for all people in the world.
At FPI, we champion equal opportunities in every company with our UNIVERSAL FAIR PAY CHECK®. Our mission: fair pay for everyone, everywhere.
We provide solutions for implementing fair pay systems, ensuring neutral and stereotype-free structures that eliminate discrimination. This approach closes wage gaps related to gender, age, or ethnicity and prevents them from reoccurring. Every remuneration strategy starts with an analysis, followed by tailored measures and monitoring.
To develop the best strategies, we stay updated on the latest trends, gather best practices, and foster constructive exchanges between companies. We connect people, think outside the box, and share our fair pay expertise with decision-makers worldwide, bridging the economy, academia, and politics.
Since March 2021, we have awarded the UNIVERSAL FAIR PAY CHECK®, the most effective and unique certification mark for fair pay. This internationally recognized process provides reliable guidance and serves as a powerful tool for monitoring, managing, and communicating equal opportunities in organizations. It is awarded under the patronage of Hubertus Heil, the German Federal Minister of Labour.
As an NGO, we engage in global sustainability discussions and contribute our expertise to UN decision-making. In summer 2021, we were granted special consultative status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
We believe that equal opportunities are key to achieving international sustainability goals, and fair pay is essential for equal opportunities for all, regardless of origin, love, or beliefs.
Progress is evident: since 2017, Germany’s pay transparency law guarantees employees the right to transparency. In the UK, reporting obligations highlight income differences. France monitors companies with an equality index, and Iceland’s effective equal pay laws are closing the pay gap. Various software tools aid implementation, and the Icelandic Equal Pay Standard is applicable globally.
Additionally, the EU Pay Transparency Directive, signed in the spring of 2023, is a significant step towards wage equality across Europe. This directive mandates salary transparency, empowers employees to challenge pay discrimination, and requires companies to disclose salary ranges in job postings and provide pay information upon request. Companies must also report on gender pay gaps and take corrective measures if disparities exceed 5%. The directive must be transposed into national laws by June 2026.
Our Journey So Far
Founded in 2017 in Berlin, the Fair Pay Innovation Lab has hosted numerous events and engaged with experts worldwide to achieve fair pay.
In 2020, we partnered with top analysis experts, and the Universal Fair Pay Check® now clarifies the global certification landscape. Since 2021, this certification has provided reliable guidance and powerful tools for equal opportunities, awarded under the patronage of Hubertus Heil, the German Federal Minister of Labour.
This certification is a call to action for companies to join us on the journey towards a fairer world. By adopting the Universal Fair Pay Check®, companies can set a standard for equal pay and transparency. Together, we can create a planet where fair pay is the norm. Join us in making this vision a reality.
